HEZFOREXPRO · Learn the basics
Forex Education Center
Clear, practical lessons for understanding the language of trading, the mechanics of a position, and the risks to consider before placing an order.
Start with these four lessons
How a currency pair works
A pair compares one currency with another. Learn which currency is the base, which is the quote, and how a changing price affects a position.
Pips, spread, and trade costs
Understand the instrument’s price increments, the bid–ask spread, commission, and any overnight financing. Check the provider’s current specifications before calculating costs.
Lots, margin, and leverage
Position volume determines market exposure. Margin is the collateral required by the provider; leverage increases exposure and can magnify both losses and gains.
Orders and a trading routine
Compare market, limit, stop, and stop-loss orders. Build a written plan, practise first, and keep a journal of decisions and outcomes.
Quick trading glossary
The prices at which the provider quotes buying and selling.
The difference between the quoted bid and ask prices.
A commonly used price increment; its size depends on the instrument’s specification.
The size of a position. Contract units and minimum steps vary by instrument and provider.
Funds set aside as collateral for a leveraged position; it is not the same as the position’s full value.
The relationship between market exposure and the funds used as margin.
An order intended to close a position at a chosen level; execution may differ in fast or gapping markets.
A possible overnight charge or credit, set by the provider and product terms.
Position-size estimator
Estimate a position volume from your chosen cash risk and stop distance. Enter the pip value for the exact instrument and account currency from your provider’s specifications.
Educational estimate only. It excludes spread, commission, financing, slippage, gaps, and other costs. A stop order may not fill at the exact requested price. Verify the contract size, pip value, and volume step with your provider.
